Buying Guide

Kayaking has been around for thousands of years, first created back by eskimos in the northern Arctic regions. The kayak's main purpose was for hunting and fishing. It would allow hunters to sneak up behind animals on the shoreline and successfully catch their prey. They were known as the “hunter’s boat.”

Since the creation of kayaks, they have become increasingly popular. In the 1950’s, the most common type was a fiberglass kayak, until the 1980’s when polyester and polyethylene plastic kayaks were introduced. These are most popular today, and there are many different types of these kayaks which are specialized for a different purpose.

Before deciding which kayak you want to buy, there are some things you first should consider.

What type of water environment will you operate your kayak?
